NEW YORK--A record number of people are expected this week at the annual Securities Industry Assoc-iation show, better known as the SIA exhibition, being held Tuesday, Wed-nesday and Thursday in midtown New York at the Hilton New York.

As of midday last Thursday, 10,905 people had registered online for the three days of product launches, car raffles, after-hours parties, product demonstrations and an assortment of pencils, stress balls and other giveaways. If it’s Monday afternoon, it’s too late to register online, but you can get in the door without pre-registering for $25.

ACCESS KEYBOARDS, \#1710

Specializing in keyboard, mouse and video (KMV) solutions for a variety of industries, Access Keyboards will show a new, customized keypad manufactured for the New York Stock Exchange. In addition, Access will display its KMV2M, KMS4 and KMV8M switching products. Long Island-based SSE Products will represent Access at the conference.

ALGORITHMICS, \#1838

Algorithmics, the provider of risk management software, will demonstrate its new version of Riskwatch for the Red Hat Linux operating system, version 6.2. Riskwatch is a multi-asset class system that lets users easily integrate their proprietary valuation models. Other new products displayed at the show will include Algo Credit, Algo Limits, Asset Liability Management and Mark-to-Future. The vendor will also announce an alliance with Intel.

AZTEC TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS, \#2113

Aztec will be demonstrating its own take on straight through processing for real-time equities trading. Aztec will demonstrate how how this can be achieved by tying together an order management system to Financial Fusion’s Server product, which will be hosted by Ixnet and will connect to the Archipelago ECN for completion. Aztec will also use Sun Microsystems’ Sun Ray workstation as the presentation device for the demo. Visitors to Aztec’s booth can enter a raffle to win a Palm VX electronic organizer. Aztec will also be present at Financial Fusion’s’ booth (\#2211).

BLOOMBERG, \#1509

Bloomberg will be displaying its Bloomberg Tradebook, New Worksheets and Trade Order Management products, collectively marketed under the umbrella of The Big Picture range of products, applications and functions. Giveaways will include cookies and Palm Pilots.

BRIDGE INFORMATION SYSTEMS, \#2201

Bridge is releasing an ActiveX version of its institutional order entry (IOE) front-end application that allows connectivity to either Bridge terminals or standalone products over the Internet. A Javabean component for IOE that connects individual applications to secure Bridge environments will also be shown. The Bridge Triad front-end applications and the Ordpro "heavy- duty" routing system using FIX will also be displayed, as well as demonstrations of Bridge IOE and EasyFIX. A new company news service, dubbed Bridgenews Live Wire, will also be launched. Bridgestation 7, Bridgechannel, Bridgefeed 4.0, Bridge Broadcast, Bridge Flight (a handheld device), Telerate Plus, Telerate Channel and Telerate Energy will all be showcased as well.

CICADA CORP., \#1720

Cicada Corp. plans to show visitors its three-pronged approach for serving financial services firms: consulting, technology solutions and outsourcing. Cicada’s consulting service aids firms in developing and implementing market data products. Its infrastructure products for market data include Cicada Composer for data management and distribution, which clients can use as a standalone solution or to maximize the efficiency of proprietary systems. The firm also offers complete market data outsourcing using Tibco’s The Information Bus (TIB).

CSK SOFTWARE, \#4303

CSK's booth this year will feature the latest versions of its flagship products: +Arena, Slingshot and X-Gen. +Arena Financial Workstation is CSK's front end data display piece, while Slingshot is used to publish real-time data over the Internet. X-Gen is an application integration tool that is Swift-compliant.

EIZO NANAO TECHNOLOGIES

A supplier of high-end professional display monitors, the company will be displaying four new products: the P5070 50-inch" Plasma; the L771 19.6 Digital LCD; the E-client Windows-based terminal; and the I-Caster Bulletin Board.

ERICH KELLER, \#1849

Erich Keller provides desks and furniture for trading rooms and will have its U-Com and Z-Com trading desks on hand. Corporate Logistics will represent the vendor at the SIA show, which the firm is attending in hopes of broadening its user base in the US, a relatively new market for the firm. Internationally, Erich Keller provides desks to Charles Schwab, Citibank, Deutsche Bank and, UBS and Charles Schwab, among others.

E-SPEED, \#1805

E-Speed will be displaying its E-Speed trading platform, an end-to-end Internet or private network transaction processing, risk management, and back-end processing system. The company will be specifically focussing on the system’s Treasury and agency bonds, US futures, repos and emerging markets trading operations. The booth will also have information on founding company Cantor Fitzgerald.

FINANCIAL FUSION, \#2211

The Sybase spin-off web, wireless and server company will be displaying its recently released XML-enabled, Java-based, Global FIX server product. Examples of its Web and Wireless System range of trading products and Stage III Architecture design will also be on show. The company will also display STP abilities through demonstrations with Archipelago, Aztec, Ixnet and Sun Microsystems. Stainless steel coffee mugs will be available at the Financial Fusion Global Café.

FINANCIAL MODELS, \#4302

The company will have two booths at the SIA show. At booth \#4302, the company will be displaying its Pacer trade management, modeling and accounting product. At the Microsoft booth, (\#4500), Financial Models will be defining its product strategy and STPML development work with Microsoft.

FNX, \#1864

FNX is using the SIA show as the official US launch pad for its E-Sierra trading engine, which is based on BEA System’s Weblogic Server and makes use of Java 2 Enterprise Edition technology. Several different modules of the web-enabled platform, which provides trading, deal capture and risk management for all financial instruments, will be demonstrated. These include: E-Sierra for global branch management; Quantum Sierra, the retail Internet trading component; and the Integrated Trading Desktop, which aggregates third-party and proprietary data and commentary. FNX also built a real-time, two-way interface between C/C++ and Java, called Japic, as part of the system. E-Sierra was launched last month (TTW, May 15).

GLOBAL TRADE TECHNOLOGIES, \#2114

The company will be displaying its GTT Broker/Dealer front-to-middle-office fixed-income trade management product. Internet connectable, the GTT Broker/Dealer platform, which can connect to the Internet, provides trading tools, including trade entry, real-time position updates, trade histories, position management and hedging tools functions.

IBM, \#2613

IBM, along with its strategic business partners, will be demonstrating straight through processing, risk management, customer loyalty and markets solutions. IBM’s "circle of innovation" will emphasize the technology of the future. IBM speakers will lead two conference workshops. The first is on Linux and the second is on Hackers.

IQ FINANCIAL, \#4310

Members of IQ Financial’s sales and marketing team will be on hand at the vendor’s SIA booth, including Susan Simek, IQ’s head of sales and marketing, and Tim Backshall, manager of the risk products group. Chief among the products displayed will be: Trade IQ, a multi-instrument capital markets trading system; Loan IQ, the vendor’s commercial lending platform; Risk IQ, for risk management functions; Desktop Risk IQ, a standalone risk calculator for small to medium-sized firms; and Loan Administrator Pro, for loan processing.

IXNET/IPC, \#3114

The two companies will be debuting IPC’s new IQMX Voice Over Internet Protocol-based trading turret product--an Internet server-based turret system incorporating voice, market data and video functions in one platform. The companies’ systems/networking strategy will also be highlighted owing to the Ixnet/ and IPC’s recent acquisition by networking company Global Crossing.

JAVELIN TECHNOLOGIES, \#4305

While the Coppelia server for the Financial Information Exchange (FIX) protocol will figure heavily at Javelin Technologies’ stand, the vendor will also display its new FIX box plug-and-play FIX solution, which the company touts as improving buy-side access to brokers and allowing the sell-side to provide its clients with better access to liquidity (Institutional Trading Technology, June 12). Unlike Coppelia, FIX Box is delivered pre-configured for individual users and is aimed at smaller firms. A Handspring PDA will be raffled at the booth, along with free T-shirts and pens.

MERCATOR, \#1862

Mercator Software will show attendees its version 5.0 of Mercator’s Commerce Broker suite of e-commerce integration middleware, a repackaged and bundled offering that consists of the vendor’s Enterprise Broker and E-commerce Broker products. Mercator helps glue together applications on Sun-Microsystems platforms. The company’s straight through processing product range connects trading and financial applications via the Internet or private intranet using standard protocols, including Swift, XML and FIX. Mercator will also be presenting at Sun Microsystems’ stand as a member of Sun’s Trusted Partner program.

NASDAQ STOCK MARKET, \#3008

The Nasdaq Stock Market booth will have representatives showing attendees recent enhancements to Nasdaqtrader.com, including: Nasdaq Tools, which includes order routing and quote management designed to streamline transactions; and Super Soes, an extension of Nasdaq’s Small Order Execution Service (Soes). Live Nasdaq workstations will be available so that visitors can check their quotes.

NETIC.COM, \#4616

Netic.com will be exhibiting its Microsoft tools and components-based X-Netic Internet or intranet/existing systems integration product.

NEON, \#2017

New Era of Networks (Neon) plans to focus on the vendor’s E+1 Trading System and Rapport products. E+1 is an exception-based settlement system designed to help firms achieve straight through processing, including routing higher margin trades to the appropriate parties, while Rapport is a customer relationship management tool for sharing client data from front-office systems with other parts of the enterprise over a Microsoft Windows-based network.

OM TECHNOLOGY, \#3004

For OM Technology, the conference marks the official launch of OM’s One World Institutional Order Management system, which provides for channeling orders from the buy-and sell-side via the FIX messaging protocol and sends them to the proper execution points. Another recently introduced product, One World Light Web Trading, which allows professional traders, exchange specialists and others to route orders electronically to central trading desks or exchanges, will also be displayed. OM is also planning to show One World Retail Order Management, which company officials tout as processing up to one million orders and 500,000 trades per day. The fourth product at OM’s SIA stand will be Ezoats, a new web-based product that lets Nasdaq member firms comply with exchange’s Order Auditing and Tracking System (OATS) reporting requirements. Expect free yo-yos at OM’s booth as well.

SAVVIS COMMUNICATIONS, \#2101

Savvis, Bridge’s networking subsidiary, will highlight its Financial Xchange extranet for financial firms. A recent Savvis client and partner, Prescient Markets, will be on hand to help showcase the two firms’ work on Prescient’s Internet-based platform for trading commercial paper, Cpmarket.com, which is supported by Savvis’ network (TTW, May 15).

SPEAKERBUS, \#1616

Speakerbus, which provides communications solutions to financial services firms, will show its SB 534 platform for delivery of hoot ‘n’ holler and intercom services to traders’ desktops. SB 534 supports analog 4 wire lines, ISDN, T1 and E1. The firm recently launched a digital system that integrates easily with SB 534 and delivers desktop video and intercom services over 100 Mbps Ethernet connections (TTW, June 12).

SUN MICROSYSTEMS, \#4100/4101

Advent, one of Sun Microsystems’ partner companies, will be demonstrating Geneva, its new multi-currency portfolio accounting system.

Also, the many ECNs, ISVs and brokerages that are Sun’s partners will be on the stand.

SWIFT, \#4121

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication will showcase its Swift protocol for the automation and standardization of financial messaging. Other products on display will be Accord, Swift’s offering for foreign exchange matching and netting, as well as network interface software for the Unix and Microsoft Windows NT operating systems.

SYBASE, \#4202

Sybase will be exhibiting its web, data warehousing and mobile computer solutions, including the recently released Sybase Adaptive Server version 12.0, and its Enterprise Portal, which uses a Sun Microsystems Java 2 platform base.

SYNTEGRA, \#1506

Syntegra USA (the former BT North America) is showcasing several new additions to its trading solutions product line. Prominent among these is a new, browser-based turret that company officials say will let users "trade anytime, anywhere.". Other new products include a new version of Syntegra’s operating software for voice and data, ITS-link, that will provide greater customization from the user’s desktop. The firm also plans several, as yet undisclosed, customer announcements and is appointing a new vice president in charge of trading solutions, though officials decline to name who it is before the show.

TALARIAN CORP., \#4010

Talarian, a supplier of corporate enterprise and Internet infrastructure products, is to display its recently released version 5.5 of the company’s Smart-sockets publish/subscribe middleware software.

TECH HACKERS/UNISYS, \#3106

Tech Hackers, a subsidiary of Unisys, plans to display @nalyst, a tool for spreadsheet add-ins for Microsoft Excel and Applix. The vendor will also show Quant Tools, a developer’s toolkit for analytics for either C++, Java or Visual Basic. Also on hand will be the firm’s back-office solutions for institutional investment management, client asset management and commercial banking, as well as its Enterprise Server ES7000.

THOMSON FINANCIAL SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS, \#3504

The company, a division of Thomson Financial, will be displaying the following range of products: Perascope and Portia, which are are portfolio management, risk management and trading analysis applications; Thomson Open Trader, an automated buy-side/portfolio-manager trade workflow and execution system; Thomson Vision, a front-office trading and risk management treasury application; Paragon, a full front- to -back- office trading, analytics and risk management treasury solution; and TBA Trader, a full trade management solution for TBA mortgage-backed securities. For the adventurous, Thomson’s booth will also include virtual reality games.

THE TOWERGROUP

Analysts from the Tower Group will be on-site to provide commentary on a variety of topics regarding financial technology. Ed Kountz, an analyst in the consultancy’s benchmarking area, will be available to discuss wireless trading technologies. Rob Hegarty, director of the firm’s investment management division, will discuss his latest work on ECNs and on application service providers (ASPs) providing portfolio management. Bob Iati, a senior analyst for capital markets, will talk about the future role of exchanges.
