SmartTrade Launches New FX-Focused OMS
The financial technology provider, based in Aix-en-Provence, France, says it has received significant demands for developing an OMS for the FX space, although the system has been designed to handle multiple asset classes.
"It is a FX-focused OMS but it is completely cross-asset [in design]," says Annalisa Sarasini, the head of global sale at SmartTrade. "Our clients can easily use it for FX today and expand to fixed income, equities, credit or rates tomorrow. Going horizontal and cross-asset is a very important topic at the moment."
Cross-Compatible
Used as a stand-alone system, or in combination with SmartTrade's other components, the new OMS tool also allows for the integration of existing technologies at a firm.
"Some of our clients come to us with the idea to revamp their entire infrastructure but sometimes, they are just looking for one specific component. They already invested money here and there and they are not interested in doubling it up. So we can let them choose the components they want to integrate, or we can provide them with the full picture," explains Sarasini.
Another enhancement to the system is the ability to bring together liquidity from multiple venues within a single architecture, to facilitate the automation and integration of vanilla workflow as much as possible.
Almost every bank now has multiple platforms but no one wants six different screens to look at. They want one system that gathered them all under one interface but they also want to be sure they can manage them all according to their individual's requirements.
"Almost every bank now has multiple platforms but no one wants six different screens to look at," says John Stead, pre-sales manager at SmartTrade. "They want one system that gathered them all under one interface but they also want to be sure they can manage them all according to their individual's requirements. Bringing together their liquidity and their execution venue really helps simplify the process and allows them to focus on what's important."
