Cboe Global Markets names executive promotions and EMEA sales roles

Cboe Global Markets has announced two executive promotions as it continues to advance on its global expansion strategy. Tim Lipscomb has been appointed chief technology officer, and Stephanie Renner has been named senior vice president of international finance, a newly created role.

As CTO, Lipscomb, who currently serves as chief operating officer of Cboe Europe, will lead Cboe’s technology strategy, innovation and integration efforts globally, including overseeing all of Cboe’s exchange, data and clearing platforms. In her new role, Renner, who is currently chief financial officer of Cboe Europe, will lead all of Cboe’s non-US finance functions, overseeing the company’s Canadian, European and Asia-Pacific financial operations, planning, analysis, and reporting. Both will relocate from London to Kansas City to assume their new positions.

Lipscomb brings more than 20 years of experience in financial markets technology. In his current role as COO of Cboe Europe, he leads its software engineering, infrastructure, and operational teams. He joined Cboe Europe in October 2019, having previously served as a managing director at Merrill Lynch.

Renner joined Cboe in 2013 as assistant controller based in Kansas City, a position she held until her move to Cboe Europe. She previously held roles at Bats Global Markets and H&R Block.

Cboe has also announced that Nigel Jeyakumar has joined the company’s Data and Access Solutions division as director of EMEA sales. Based in London, he will lead Cboe’s sales efforts in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for Cboe’s full suite of market data, indices, and analytics offerings.

Jeyakumar joins Cboe from CME Group, where he was most recently senior manager for global data licensing and sales in its data services division. Prior to this, he held positions at CME as a senior associate in sales and commercial development and as a senior analyst in international market development. Prior to his tenure at CME Group, Jeyakumar worked as a corporate actions specialist for Morgan Stanley and as a corporate actions analyst for UBS Global Asset Management.

Jeyakumar will report to Bo Chung, senior vice president in global sales and index licensing.

Broadridge appoints two asset management pros, German head

Broadridge Financial Solutions has appointed Mike Sleightholme as president of its asset management solutions business. He will be responsible for driving Broadridge’s global asset management business growth, the strategic execution of client- and market-focused solutions, and service delivery.

He comes to Broadridge from SS&C Technologies, where he served as chief executive officer and general manager of its DST Systems business. Prior to that, Sleightholme spent 24 years in senior leadership positions at Citigroup, where he held responsibility for their hedge fund services and led the sale of that business to SS&C, as well as the subsequent integration.

Brian Crowley, who has served as interim president of Broadridge Asset Management Solutions, steps into a new role as chief operating officer of the asset management business, reporting to Sleightholme. In this new role, Crowley will be responsible for the execution of the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the business.

Broadridge has also appointed Stephan Müller as managing director for Germany. Based in Frankfurt, Müller will join Broadridge’s international leadership team and will be responsible for leading and growing Broadridge’s overall business in Germany, across all solution lines in its global technology and operations portfolio, investor communication solutions, Broadridge’s Payments-as-a-Service business, and financial messaging services.

Müller joins Broadridge from Commerzbank, where he held a number of divisional board member roles including for banking operations, chief information officer, and transaction banking. He also held roles at Dresdner Bank, where he was CIO for corporate and private clients and, prior to that, global head of transaction banking and customer service.

DTCC elects two members to board of directors

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation has elected two new members to its board of directors, William Capuzzi of Apex Fintech Solutions and Kelley Conway of Northern Trust.

Capuzzi is chief executive officer at Apex Fintech Solutions. Prior to Apex, Capuzzi held past senior leadership positions at Convergex, Pershing, and DLJ.

Conway is executive vice president and head of corporate and digital strategy at Northern Trust. She brings more than 20 years of consulting experience in technology strategy through her past roles at Accenture and PwC.

Liquidnet hires new Americas head of execution and quant services

Liquidnet, an agency broker, has added James Rubinstein as head of execution and quantitative services (EQS) for the Americas. In his role, he will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and leading the effort for Liquidnet’s EQS offering in the region.

Rubinstein brings more than two decades of experience to the role, having joined Liquidnet from BNP Paribas, where he was Americas head of electronic equities products. Prior to his tenure at BNPP, he spent three years with Deutsche Bank as Americas head of electronic equities, responsible for algorithmic development, quantitative research, transaction cost analysis, client consulting, and liquidity strategy. He had joined Deutsche Bank from UBS, where he spent 12 years as the Americas head of algorithms and analytics.

Based in New York, Rubinstein reports directly to Rob Laible, global head of equities.

SmartTrade Technologies strengthens executive leadership with new trio

SmartTrade Technologies, a provider of electronic trading solutions, has announced the appointment of three new managers to its executive leadership team: Elise van der Schans as chief human resources officer, Renaud Kerspern as chief financial officer, and Carine Denis as global head of business operations.

Van der Schans will oversee SmartTrade’s talent acquisition and deployment of human resources. She will also be responsible for the implementation of HR strategy, tools and processes to foster retention, engagement, and development of employees. She joins from software company Trace One, where she was vice president of HR and MIS, in charge of cloud, IT, and HR. Prior to this, she was head of compensation and benefits and then HR business partner at Sungard/FIS.

Kerspern will be responsible for overseeing the group’s financial, legal, and administrative functions. He previously held roles at Forterro and Ullink, which is now a part of Itiviti.

Denis’s role will entail building a strategy to deliver transformation projects with a focus on improving company growth. She will also be responsible for crafting customer success strategies and collaborating with internal management to deliver customer experiences.

Denis joins from Finastra, where her roles included regional operating officer and director of business operations for the chief operating officer. Prior to this, she spent several years driving large-scale transformation projects for HSBC and Société Générale.
